Women Who Have Inspired You

We aim to build up a library of information about women, plus books and articles about women. Those of you who saw Deal or No Deal on 3rd November will have seen Helen Burton-Margett’s positive attitude in the face of defeat. When Helen got to the last two boxes she could either win £200 or £30,000. Unfortunately it was the £200 box Helen chose. However, because she had been so lovely during her time on the program the banker awarded her a further £5,250. Helen had said ‘It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice’. She really is a lovely person, who cares about other people and making the world a better place. Just goes to show that Helen’s approach to life pays off!

Jenny has suggested Anita Roddick – ‘One of the most inspiring ladies to me is Anita Roddick. I referred to Anita a lot through my degree and she inspired me. I loved her determination to overcome problems and achieve her goals’.

Cancer sufferer Jane Tomlinson was an inspiration to many people. Her admirable fund raising efforts and her continued fight for life really were amazing. Her recent death has left a huge gap, not least to her family. An article in today’s (04/10/07) news adds further pain to their loss. We send the family our love and thoughts.
